“Without Commitment you cannot have depth in anything. Whether it’s a relationship, a business, or a hobby.” ~ Neil Strauss
Something really amazing happens when we commit to something. The word ‘decision’ comes from the Latin term decidere (de = ‘OFF’, caedere = ‘CUT’). It literally means to cut off all other options. And by doing so we ensure that what we’ve chosen will grow over time and expand into what it could be.
Most people don’t make committed decisions. They dabble, instead of putting their whole being into something. And by doing so they ensure lackluster results. When difficulties arise, which they always do, they give up. They question whether or not this is for them. Instead of realizing that on the path towards creating your dream, stumbling is a part of the process.
Commitment can be scary. In a business, a relationship, or anything. You’re diving into the unknown without certainty of how things will go. But when there’s commitment what you’re saying is, ultimately, I’m going to give my all. And in doing so, inevitably, you ensure your success.
There’s a concept called ‘Burning the Ships’, a concept derived from the story of Alexander the Great storming the Persian Empire in 334 BC. Upon arriving Alexander ordered the ships to be burned to send a strong signal to his army that they were either leaving in Persian ships, or they would die there.
While I don’t recommend burning anything as large as a ship, the metaphor is there. Go all in on your dream.

Claim what it is you want to experience. Which takes knowing. Which takes takes searching. But once you’ve found it, claim it.
Fully.
In a way, it’s already yours. You just have to walk the path.
